This three day course, delivered either in the classroom or online, is designed to develop an understanding of the roles of workers within information, advice or guidance, and the skills and knowledge needed to offer these services to others.

All learners need to meet a Level 2 in literacy to register on this course.
This course costs £400 inc VAT per person attending.
There is the possibility of some funding, subject to availability for VCSE paid employees that live and work in Cornwall through the VSF Learning Academy.

Minimum Age
Learners must be aged 19 or over to complete this qualification.
The course will enable learners to:
Understand the relationship between information, advice or guidance
Explain the IAG role and how to agree the use of the service with clients
Understand the importance of confidentiality, data protection and impartiality
Understand the importance of effective communication skills in the delivery of IAG
Understand how to explore a range of options with the client to meet their requirements
Agree an appropriate course of action with the client
Identify personal development needs
Understand equality and diversity in relation to information, advice or guidance
Understand organisational policy on record keeping, data protection and confidentiality
This qualification aims to provide learners with the skills and underpinning knowledge required by employers in a broad range of contexts where information, advice or guidance is provided.
This qualification is appropriate for learners who have responsibility for information, advice or guidance as part of their core work and for those who may be involved in general signposting within the sector. Within Further Education, this qualification may be offered to staff who are involved in supporting young people with careers and personal choices such as teachers, lecturers, classroom / teaching support staff and learning mentors.
It is also appropriate qualifications for those who may be giving advice in the Voluntary Sector, health workers and anyone in the advice giving sector who would benefit from a programme of study which reinforces good practice, provides underpinning knowledge and give formal recognition for learning and skills developed through experience.
The minimum age for access to the qualification is 19 years because the complex nature of advice giving within the range of sectors where it is offered demands that learners have a minimum level of experience, self-awareness and self-confidence.
The qualification is particularly suitable for those who:
Learners are expected to have achieved a minimum of a Level 2 Functional Skills in English.
Assessments are carried out within the centre and will be a combination of workbook and observed skills practice.
This qualification is accredited through the NOCN awarding body.
