Introduction to Community Hubs | Hubs & Gateway Prospectus | Hub Activity ReportMediaCommunity Hub Map

For the past 12 months, Volunteer Cornwall have been working with voluntary sector partners and public sector commissioners to develop the Community Hub network – but just what is the Community Hub network and why does it matter?

Community hubs are places that provide support and resources for their communities. Hubs rely on organisations working together to identify the best support available for people at a local level. A community hub can be a building or space, or a network of people who offer safe places for community members. Here, they can find help, advice, support, and join in activities. In towns and villages, there are various types of hubs that each play a unique and vital role in their community.

So where are these hubs in Cornwall and what do they do?

Below, you will find a map of where the hubs are located which includes details of location, opening times and the kind of activities and services on offer.

There is also a short video showing just some of the activities available through the Community Hub network.

But why are we doing this?

The funding for community hubs comes from NHS Cornwall & IoS and they are funding the hubs because they recognise that the best way to help people is to stop them getting sick in the first place. Keeping people at home in the community, living active, independent and healthy lives is much better for everyone (and much less expensive) than waiting until people become sick or need care and then intervening.

Community hubs offer a chance to get help and support with your mental and physical health and wellbeing including tackling loneliness and isolation by offering activities you can get involved in with others.

The hubs are complimented by the Community Gateway service which is open 7 days a week from 8am – 8pm and can be reached on 01872 266383 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
