This half-day course will give learners an understanding of Safeguarding practices and how critical it is to know what to do.
We cannot emphasise how important it is for volunteers to be aware of increasing scrutiny and changing legislation relating to Child and Adult Safety. It is critical that our sector complies with the very highest standards and best practice. Volunteers and staff need to know how to protect themselves whilst helping those in the local community.

This one-day course is designed to give people the skills, understanding and confidence to ensure the wellbeing of others, including the prevention of abuse and neglect. Safeguarding means protecting another person’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is also concerned with making sure that those at risk do not get harmed, knowing what to do if anyone at work is worried about someone else, and ensuring that any allegations of abuse or suspicion are dealt with appropriately.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and having an understanding of the issues and processes is essential for anyone, regardless of role or status as paid employee or volunteer. No formal qualifications are necessary but a reasonable standard of English will be expected.
