Awareness (Foundation) Competency for Safeguarding Adults

Who is this for?

All staff and volunteers who are involved in care, support and community services. This foundation

competency is for people to be skilled in recognising signs of harm and abuse (including selfneglect)

and to know who to contact for advice when they have safeguarding concerns.

Important:

These are competencies for adult safeguarding. Staff need to be aware of transferrable risk

between adults and children. These competences do not replace the need for staff to undertake

appropriate child safeguarding training.
