We cannot emphasise how important it is for both staff and volunteers to be aware of increasing scrutiny and changing legislation relating to Child and Adult Safety.
It is critical that our sector complies with the very highest standards and best practice. Volunteers need to know how to protect themselves whilst helping those in the local community with essential transport.
As this can be an emotive subject, if there is anything you would like to discuss with us before the course, please do so by calling 01872 266987.
We can now offer learners access to the last of the ESF funding. Volunteer Cornwall is working with the VCSE Learning Academy (led and supported by the Voluntary Sector Forum) to offer you the opportunity for some FREE training.
This is time limited until the summer so book your place NOW to guarantee your fully funded qualification. This is the END of ESF!

Please note that learners must live in Cornwall and be employed in the VCSE sector to receive the funding, the ESF funding is not currently available to volunteers.
Without the ESF funding, this course is priced at £120 inc VAT per learner.
What does this course entail?
This one-day course is designed to give people the skills, understanding and confidence to ensure the wellbeing of others, including the prevention of abuse and neglect. Safeguarding means protecting another person’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is also concerned with making sure that those at risk do not get harmed, knowing what to do if anyone at work is worried about someone else, and ensuring that any allegations of abuse or suspicion are dealt with appropriately.
The level 3 qualification is regulated and accredited by the First Aid Awards (FAA) and learners will receive a certificate upon completion and assessment of the coursework.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and having an understanding of the issues and processes is essential for anyone, regardless of role or status as paid employee or volunteer. No formal qualifications are necessary but a reasonable standard of English will be expected.
This qualification is designed for learners who have contact with children, young people or adults in their community (including paid or voluntary work). It promotes awareness and sensitivity to safeguarding, enabling learners to be able to identify issues and emphasises the responsibility to ensure that concerns are reported and acted on appropriately.
