Why choose this course?
This course is a preparation for those who have recently joined, or are considering entering, the teaching, training or learning and development sector. Very usefully, it provides a qualification without a minimum teaching practice requirement. It introduces the knowledge and skills required by teachers to develop and deliver programmes, provide learning support, and take responsibility for managing the learning process in post-16 education.
Who would benefit from the course?
It is useful for anyone working in colleges, adult and community learning, or work-based learning and training. Learners are not required to have any formal qualifications. However , due to the written elements of the course, a good standard of English is necessary.
When are the course dates?
The first session will start on 14th February 2019 and the course will continue to run on the 21st & 28th February and the 7th & 14th March.
There may be a gap before the session with the micro-teach activity to give the group some additional time to make any preparations.

- Inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Assessment methods in education and training
How is the course assessed?
There are two written assignments and a one hour micro-teach session (this includes an in-class teaching session, self-evaluation and the completion of at least two peer assessments).

What are the opportunities for progression?
The course could lead to a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training as well as a range of other programmes within related areas such as IAG (Information, Advice or Guidance), Mentoring, Volunteer Management and Customer Service.
