We need you! Making a difference to your community – Camborne, Pool, Redruth and Illogan.

We are pleased to announce our involvement in an innovative new project called SMARTLINE, funded by the European Regional Development Fund. SMARTLINE stands for ‘SMART Technology, Linking Innovation and Needs for EWellbeing in communities. There are four main partners in SMARTLINE; University of Exeter, Coastline Housing, Volunteer Cornwall and Cornwall Council.

Previous research between Coastline Housing and the University of Exeter has shown how our homes and communities have important impacts on our health and wellbeing.

Alongside the installation of SMARTLINE technology in homes across Coastline communities, we are launching a project, supported by volunteers, to help residents develop the communities in which they live.

  • Have you ever had an occasion when you only heard about an event in your local community which interested you, after it happened?
  • Would you like to find shared interests with your neighbours?
  • Could you help out an elderly neighbour, or a neighbour with a young family, or could your neighbours help you?

We hope, with your help, to find answers to these questions. Our Volunteer Place Makers will help us to find out what is important to people locally, and to take action as a result.

Ideally we would like Place Makers to be living in Coastline properties in Camborne, Pool, Redruth or Illogan. However being a Coastline resident is not essential.

If you are interested in helping us to make difference please contact Karen Spooner - Smartline Community Development Manager on 07968 706114 or karens@volunteercornwall.org.uk for further information.
