September is of course 'back-to-school' month which has kept both our Transport and our Your Way Time Bank teams busy. Our volunteer drivers provide school transport options for children across the county and the Time Bank encourages young people between 11 & 19 to get involved in their local community.

The closing date for nominations for this year's Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering Awards has been and gone and we are now busy shortlisting the nominations down to just three per category. The ceremony itself will be held at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay in November - maybe you will be joining us?

Our Training Team have been out and about delivering training to groups across the county this month including Customer Service, Safeguarding, Fundraising, Social Media and Information, Advice & Guidance. They are also preparing for the final Level 3 Award in Volunteer Management and Level 3 Award in Education & Training - if you are interested in these (or any of our other training) email [email protected] for more information.

We encourage our staff to blog about their work and in case you missed Septembers blogs, they included Colum blogging about the Cornwall Council staff volunteering scheme; Angela talking about the launch of the 'Centipede Club' in Liskeard (hint - it's not about centipedes); Steve reflecting on his visit to 'Heritage Ability'  Matthew telling us about his experience at the recent Special Olympics and Nat's visit to a hedgehog sanctuary (prepare to go "Awwwww")

This month we also published our glossy annual report, looking back at our work in the 2016/17 financial year. You can download a copy from our website

As always, if you want to know more about our work, check out our website, email [email protected] or call us on 01872 265308.
