We are delighted to be part of the 'Living Well to Work' partnership project, led by the Learning Partnership and delivered by Partners throughout Cornwall and with the University of Exeter. Funded partially by the European Social Fund.

The project aims to address the problems that arise for people wishing to become part of the workforce but whose health issues have previously prevented them from doing so.

A range of pilot projects will be tailored to support the following priority groups:

  • Older workers who may face barriers to participation beyond retirement age;
  • People for whom mental ill health has prevented them engaging in the workforce;
  • Those with high functioning autism and Asperger’s who seek increased participation but for whom barriers exist to entering training, education, or the workforce.
  • Those with learning difficulties or disabilities who may face challenges in sourcing training and education or finding work.
  • People with diabetes whose condition prevents full participation in the workforce.

We have two strands to our role within the project:

Alongside all the partners, we will be engaging with the participants on the individual pilot projects to broker and support bespoke volunteering packages. Focussing on the aspirations and needs of the individual, we will enable them to access volunteer opportunities.  The host voluntary organisations will have support from Volunteer Cornwall to gain an understanding of the difficulties that are faced by the volunteers.  We will work with partners to engage employers with a new approach and encourage them to become a stakeholder in this journey.  Throughout the project we will be challenging myths and stereotypes that can act as barriers to people re-entering the workforce.

We are pleased to also be working alongside:

  • Eden
  • Newquay for Excellence Training
  • Newquay Community Orchard
  • United Response
  • Pentreath
  • Truro and Penwith College
