The Early Help Hub (or EHH) is a single point of access for professionals, families and young people in Cornwall to access the help and support they need. The Hub works in partnership with Family Information Service (FIS), Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) Care Management Centre (CMC) and the Multi Agency Referral Unit (MARU) to ensure the right support information and guidance is offered.
The role of EHH Voluntary & Community Sector Engagement Coordinator has been created as part of the One Vision Partnership Plan to help to improve outcomes for children. The Co-ordinator role has several strands to help bring together Children & Family Services and the Voluntary and Community Sector. The staff member, Becky, is employed by Volunteer Cornwall but based in the Early Help Hub as the voluntary and community sector part of a team of Children’s Services and Health staff who receive requests for help from parents, young people and professionals. These requests could be offered support from a range of places including Health Visitors, Family Workers, Youth Workers, School Nurses, Early Years Intervention Service etc
Sometimes, families do not reach the threshold for this type of targeted work or it is not the appropriate support for them. This is where Becky comes in, trying to source more appropriate help from VCS organisations in their local areas. She also acts as a link between Early Help provision and voluntary and community sector organisations by sharing information and organising networking events.
Recently, Becky has been working on a pilot volunteer project in Mid Cornwall to support the Parenting Programmes provided by Children’s Services. This befriending service will provide continuing support for parents following completion of the course.
