Every year, hundreds of events take place across Cornwall - ranging from concerts and festivals to carnivals and fun-runs - and they all have one thing in common.....they all rely on volunteers in order to take place.

Event volunteering can be a great way to give your time - it offers all the fun of regular volunteering but often condensed into one or two days. Roles can include marshalling & stewarding, collecting monies, giving out flyers or freebies, providing advice and assistance to visitors or sometimes can involve more unusual requests like dressing up or getting stuck in to the fun and games!

There are as many different roles as there are events. This page will list all of the events we are aware of together with details of how to volunteer. Please note that as Volunteer Cornwall is not involved in running any of these events directly, we are not responsible for the recruitment process or the experience on the day but we do work closely with many of the major events around the county to ensure that their expectations of volunteers is realistic and that volunteers get the recognition they deserve.

So why not give it a go? It can be great as a one-off experience alone or with friends and family and who knows...you might get a taste for it :-)

Please note these events are listed in date order of the event so if you are visiting this page regularly you will need to scroll through to see any new opportunities.

Invasive Species Control: Himalayan Balsam Pulling - 27th March – July 31st

Himalayan Balsam is an invasive non native plant which mainly resides on river banks. This plant is spread through explosive seed pods and can cause erosion and overshadow native plants which can in turn affect the fauna as less native plants can grow. Pulling this plant is easy due to the shallow rooting and therefore this event will allow people to pull the balsam and control the species. Event won't commence until Balsam plants are growing (April/May). To get to the proposed site, a walk across a field is required and therefore people will need to be fit enough to walk to the site. Terrain can be difficult however easier sites can be found for those unable to climb banks.

Long-Term Festival Volunteer - Falmouth Town Council - 16th to 18th June

This is an exciting opportunity to see how your skills and ideas can enhance this amazing festival long-term.
The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival has been running for 14 years, and it all began thanks to our volunteers! Back in 2004 a group of sea shanty enthusiasts came together and formed this extra special music festival, which has grown year on year.
The festival will be running from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th June 2017, and will see 60 groups from across Europe perform in 23 locations around the town. With so many elements to the three days, we're looking for volunteers with a range of skills who can help the festival in both the short term and the long term in a number of different ways.
If you're looking to get involved with a festival with an incredible, unique atmosphere, look no further. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
