Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering 2018

2018 was the 10th year we have held the awards and as part of Volunteer Cornwall's 40th anniversary celebrations, the awards ceremony was held at The Eden Project as part of a wider celebration of volunteering in Cornwall.

There were 9 individual categories, a 'Host of the Year' award and an overall winner.

The awards for 2018 are as follows:

The overall Volunteer of the Year Award for the "winner of winners" was the toughest part of the selection process and the panel awarded that accolade to Jak Atter for his youth volunteering work.

Children & Schools (sponsored by Cornwall Council) - Pat Jolley Face2Face

Community (sponsored by Cornwall Council) - Brenda Collins

Culture (sponsored by Cornwall Council) - Kaylie Wright

Driver (sponsored by Cornwall Council) - Vincent Coen

Environment (sponsored by Cornwall Wildlife Trust) - Sue Sayer

Fund Raising & Support (sponsored by Cornwall Council) Bev Burt

Health & Care (sponsored by Duchy Health Charity) - Rosemary Wickett

Personal Development (sponsored by Truro & Penwith College) - Lowenna Kaute

Young Volunteer (sponsored by Cornwall College Camborne) - Jak Atter

"Host of the Year" category for the organisation that has demonstrated excellence in the way it looks after its volunteers, sponsored by Health Promotion Service. - Merlin MS Centre

Of course in our eyes, every volunteer deserves recognition and whilst we cant give certificates to all 140,000 of Cornwall's volunteers, we can shine a light on their outstanding work through events like this.
