The latest nfpSynergy report into volunteering trends in the UK reveals some interesting figures. Headline findings are:

  • Over 21 million people formally volunteer in the UK at least once a year
  • 9% of the adult population account for 51% of all volunteer hours
  • Volunteering rates have remained relatively consistent over the past ten years

The report also confirms that the value of formal volunteering in the UK in 2012 was put at £23.9bn. The genfer gap between male & female volunteers has diminished whilst the proportion of young people volunteering has increased.
