June has been a busy month and opened with Volunteers Week – a celebration of the part played by volunteers in our society. As you can see from the photo below, the team are in no doubt that they love volunteers but do you? Although Volunteers Week has passed, you can still say “Thank You” to your volunteers by nominating them for the 2017 Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering Awards.

June was also ‘Retail Volunteering Month’ and we have been highlighting the many fantastic volunteering opportunities within the retail volunteering sector across Cornwall. You can read more about it here.

This month also saw the start of our Transform Ageing workshops where, working with The Design Council and others, we hope to make a positive contribution to the experience of growing older in Cornwall.

We welcomed new groups of learners to the Level 3 Award in Volunteer Management and the Level 3 Award in Education & Training via the Volunteer Cornwall Academy

As well as attending various events ranging from Park Day in Boscawen Park in Truro to Careers Fairs in Penzance & Camborne, we hosted a get together between Cornwall Council managers and the voluntary sector, signed new contracts for the extension of existing projects and recruited new staff to take forward work in bold and innovative directions – not bad for a month’s work!
