Volunteering doesn't take a summer break so August has been a busy month for our teams.

Training has continued apace with Volunteer Management, Education & Training and Safeguarding amongst the topics delivered. We also ran a half day workshop on Volunteers and the Law. We have new courses coming up for the Autumn so be sure to check out our Training pages for all the details.

We have also been busy preparing for this year's Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering Awards and the good news is we have extended the deadline for nominations to 8th September so there's still time to get your nominations in.

One of our team travelled to the Special Olympics in Sheffield to coach and support the team from Cornwall, competing in the games for the first time. We're delighted to say that one of our very own volunteers came back with a gold medal from the football events.

We've been busy on social media and our staff now regularly blog about their activities. You can read these on our website including:

Ben's blog on changes made by the NHS to transport arrangements for patients;

A blog from Angela on what has inspired her as she gets to grips with her new role on Transform Ageing

A blog from Rose on Brannel School's Young Volunteers

And don't miss one of our more unusual blogs on the subject of 'Chicken Therapy' (now you'll have to read it to find out if that's a thing!)

On top of all that we've continued to provide training, transport, advocates, buddies, home visits, workshops, opportunities and activities through all of our regular services.

If you have any questions about anything we do, or want to get involved in any of our projects, check out the website, email enquiries@volunteercornwall.org.uk or call 01872 266988 for more information.
