The Shaping our Future team are keen to work with colleagues that deliver health and care services for people in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly across all sectors. In particular, we are keen to work with people who deliver health and social care support in Cornwall and/or Isles of Scilly within the Third Sector as we are acutely aware of the potential impact that any changes in mainstream NHS and social services can have on the workload of these colleagues. Consequently, you have been identified as someone with the necessary local expertise and experience such that we would like to invite you to three workshops being held across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly in July, September and November to help shape the future of health and care services in your local community. A list of the dates and venues are available for you to select from overleaf.

Based on what local people have asked for and the evidence base supports, we want to provide as much care as is safe and appropriate within local communities to prevent unnecessary visits or stays in hospital and to more effectively utilise the health and care professionals in our services to reduce the pressure health and social care colleagues across the system are under. To help us achieve this we would like you to be one of a small group of expert stakeholders we are inviting to a series of coproduction workshops we are hosting over the summer to help us develop options for improving services that we can then consult on with the wider public next year.

All the workshops are in the evening and we know that this means giving up your own time and doing this out of goodwill. However, we believe that working together in collaboration is the best opportunity we have for protecting our local services.  You will not be expected to do any additional work outside of the sessions and we will have a team of experts supporting all of the workshops to provide the information needed to support the discussions. Each venue tells you what populations the workshop is aimed at so that we can implement a place based approach to redesigning services as we realise different localities have different needs and different resources that we have available to work with. Once you have selected which location you would like to attend your first workshop in it would help us if you could commit to the other two workshops for that location. If you are unable to attend all three we would be grateful if you could nominate a suitable deputy and share any information you have learned by attending the first workshop.

I hope you will be able to join us and would be grateful if you would confirm whether you can or cannot attend, what part of Cornwall or Isles of Scilly most of your service users come from and which venues you will attend to louisemoore1@nhs.net by 27th June 2017. Please not each venue has a limited number of spaces (40), six of which will be given to local ‘experts by experience’ (patients and carers) who live in the local area, so we will accept delegates on a first come, first served basis.

Best wishes,

Iain Chorlton
