No formal qualifications are necessary but a reasonable standard of English will be expected. What does the course cover? The course enables learners to discover: What the profession of counselling is and how it can transform people’s lives What sets counselling apart from other forms of help; guidance, mentoring and coaching Which active listening skills a counsellor uses to facilitate self-awareness and focus Why respect, empathy and being genuine make all the difference How to experiment with counselling skills for everyday conversations How is the course assessed? This is a highly participative course and provides considerable opportunity for safe counselling skills’ practice within the session. This, together with group discussions and various activities/exercises form the basis of the assessment.
