Happy Birthday to the NHS

As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, the trustees, volunteers and staff of Volunteer Cornwall would like to wish a very happy birthday to an even older (and even more loved) institution – our fantastic NHS.

We are working closely with the NHS in Cornwall to develop new and better ways of delivering health, care and wellbeing services to people across the Duchy and never cease to be amazed by the dedication and commitment shown by those who work and volunteer in the NHS.

Shaping Our Future connecting Cornwall event a huge success

Two Shaping Our Future events have given practitioners the opportunity to meet and share experiences and information so that they can then use this new knowledge to connect people more easily to the right health, wellbeing and social care support.

Practitioners from the voluntary sector, emergency services, health, social care, housing and many more attended the events held in St Austell and near Truro earlier this month, with the aim of connecting with other practitioners to share helpful information and advice.

The Shaping Our Future programme is founded on collaboration and integration, with all partners across health, social care and the voluntary sector committed to working together to ensure the people of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

The different organisations and volunteers are also working together to support people to help themselves and each other so that they can stay independent and well in their community, and provide services that everyone can be proud of and that reduce the cost overall to the system.
