Uniformed Youth Services

Cornwall has a proud tradition of providing activities for children and young people through organisations like Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Air / Sea / Army cadets, St John’s Ambulance and others. Hundreds of thousands of youngsters have benefitted over the years from their combined efforts.

However, all of these groups rely on adult volunteers giving up their time to provide fun, challenging activities for the youngsters and administering the day to day running of the group – tasks which could include maintaining buildings, running websites, raising funds , planning camps and competitions and general administration and promotion.

Volunteer Cornwall has launched a campaign, supported by Cornwall & Devon Media and backed by the Lord Lieutenant, to encourage more volunteers to come forward.

If you can spare a few hours a week and have an interest in helping young people develop then this could be just the opportunity for you. Most communities have some form of unit locally and most people have skills which would be valuable to their local unit.
