Great Cornish Beach Litter Pick

On Sunday 16th February, the sun finally came out and people took to beaches all across Cornwall for the ‘Great Cornish Beach Litter Pick’
Following the recent storms which have pounded Cornwall, we wanted to show the world that we are open for business, especially with half term just upon us.
There were organised events at
- Bude – Summerleaze
- Falmouth – Gyllyngvase
- St Ives – Porthmeor
- Newquay – Fistral
Across these 10 beaches 456 people turned out to help and collected a whopping 485 bags of rubbish.
But we know that some people organised their own events for their local or favourite beaches such as Readymoney in Fowey, at Flushing and at Porthleven to name a few – which is just brilliant.
If you were there and you have any photos, please feel free to share them on our Facebook Page
If you enjoyed it enough to want to do it again – or if you missed it first time round and want to find out what all the fuss is about – Our good friends at Clean Cornwall have a Guide to setting Up a Litter Pick on their website which you can visit by clicking here. You can use social media & the local press to spread the word and don’t forget to post your event on the Clean Cornwall site. You could also get some friends, family or work colleagues to come along and make a social event of it.
It’s Clean Cornwall week Saturday 15th – Sunday 23rd March so that could be an ideal opportunity to arrange a litter pick – and of course, it doesn’t have to be on the beach.
