Volunteer Cornwall is an organisation dedicated to developing active and engaged citizens through volunteering. Our Volunteer Centres, situated in East (Liskeard), Mid (St Austell) and West Cornwall (Redruth), match people who want to volunteer with organisations that need volunteers. The 2011 Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering results are now up on our website. You can see who won in each category and who received ‘Highly Commended’ Awards. Need Transport?
As part of Volunteer Cornwall, we run a Community Car Scheme using volunteers in their own vehicles to provide essential journeys to people in the community for whom private or public transport is not an option. The type of journeys we operate include health appointments, education, leisure, hospital visiting and shopping. Some journeys are paid for by statutory agencies or charities with the balance being for individuals who contact the charity for help. We helped many thousands of people last year we operated well over two million miles.
